the far sight of it
the long pull of fate

in the wind and the rain
or from the veins to the drain
or in the folds of a face
growing old and thin

it's a call from you
on what i thought was nothing but
a normal afternoon
and the awful news

see the birds in the tree
a whole family
and the space between the leaves
that lets the sunlight in

will it always feel fake
or could i find it again?
